©
Getty Images

When you're in your thirties and have had a very public career that spans over two decades, it might seem like your identity has been solidified in place, but thankfully one star continues to show us that it's never too late to embrace your true self, no matter how many people are watching.
Elliot Page, the Oscar-nominated star of ‘Juno,' came out as transgender and non-binary on December 1, 2020, and a few months later he is now the first transgender man to appear the cover of Time magazine. "I want to live and be who I am," Page says in the interview detailing his emotional journey. He adds that he has wanted to identify as a boy since he was a child, but that his career as an actor, which started at age 10, got in the way. Now, having revealed his truth to the world, Page is determined to fight for the rights of trans people and counter the "myths and damaging rhetoric" debating the existence of transgender people.
"With deep respect for those who came before me, gratitude for those who have supported me & great concern for the generation of trans youth we must all protect, please join me and decry anti-trans legislation, hate & discrimination in all its forms," Page tweeted alongside the magazine cover.
