Dwayne Johnson has opened up about wearing a prosthetic bodysuit for the live-action 'Moana' (2026) movie, in an interview with E! News published on June 23.
Having just come off of filming 'Smashing Machine' (2025), in which he played UFC fighter Mark Kerr, Johnson shared he didn't have time to transform his body again so quickly once they began shooting of the live-action 'Moana,' where he reprises his role as Maui from the animated version.
The actor ended up working with Oscar-winning makeup artist Joel Harlow on a bodysuit made entirely from prosthetics, an experience he described as "40 pounds of suit that was hot as s--t!". In hindsight, he recalled, "It also worked out great because of visual effects, because the tattoos are alive," even making it easier overall for the visual effects team.
The live-action 'Moana' is set for release on July 10.
