Selena Gomez revealed that arthritis caused by lupus has directly influenced the design of her Rare Beauty products. Speaking on the September 9 episode of 'Good Hang with Amy Poehler', the singer and actress said her struggles with finger pain and limited dexterity made her realize the importance of accessible packaging.

Gomez, who was diagnosed with lupus in 2013, explained that Rare Beauty initially designed products that were “inherently easy to open,” and later made accessibility a guiding principle for the brand. “We started to make every product with the intention of working for anybody who has dexterity problems,” she said.

Arthritis, an autoimmune disease, is one of the most common diseases of its kind in the world. It's no surprise then, that many famous faces are among those who have suffered, or currently suffer, from it. Osteoarthritis is the most common type, occurring when the cartilage between bones is worn down over time with painful consequences. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the second most common type, causes systemic inflammation in the body.

It can happen to anyone, and you might be surprised by the stars in the sports, music, and TV/film worlds who have been affected. Click on to discover who they are.
