Frank Ocean and other celebs with fashion lines
The elusive singer surprises fans with new luxury brand Homer
©
Getty Images

Celebrities have long been icons of style, as fans pore over what (and who) they're wearing, scrambling to get their latest look. But some stars have developed a real passion for fashion, if you will, and wanted to make that connection to their fans more direct by designing entire collections and labels. And they've had varying degrees of success!
Frank Ocean is notorious for sharing brilliant musical projects with his fans and then disappearing for years, but this time the elusive star has returned with a surprising new fashion project: a luxury brand named Homer.
The singer announced the fully formed company on social media on August 7, which is the product of "years of quiet and careful work and thought," W Magazine reports. Introducing the line with an emphasis on high-end jewelry, the first Homer boutique opened in Manhattan’s Jewelry District, and it's distinctly not an e-commerce brand as it requires you to shop in person or order over the phone.
Ocean said in a rare interview with the Financial Times that he wants Homer to receive the respect of traditional high jewelry brands. “I didn’t want our work to be any less expensive than Cartier,” he said, and so prices for the collection range from US$395 to US$1.9 million, though the materials and craftspeople involved in the production are said to merit the cost.
Ocean also acknowledged that independent, Black-owned brands in the luxury arena are on the up. “There are possibilities for Black people now that weren’t always there for us,” he said. “I grew up in poverty. I’m grateful to my mother because she tried to expose me to as much as she could so far as the bigger picture is concerned. I’m very fortunate to be someone who can make someone else feel like they have possibilities, and I think that will make art and fashion richer for it.”
You might be surprised to see which other stars have ventured into the land of design. Click through to find out which of your favorite celebs have a fashion line of their own.
