According to UK health officials, the West Nile virus has been detected in UK mosquitoes for the first time.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) indicated there is no reason for worrying just yet, as the risk for the general public remains very low. Nonetheless, in some cases people can become very ill from the virus. The agency also said that currently there is no evidence that the virus is spreading in the UK.
