The Corona Police Department, in Southern California, is warning individuals not to leave children unattended in cars given recent high temperatures. The warning comes after the police department had to rescue a toddler who was left in a car with the engine off and windows closed on June 17. The car reached a temperature of 100°F (38°C), which put the baby at deadly risk.

Indeed, in the US about 37 children die every year after being left alone in cars.

The Corona Police Department suggest the "Look Before You Lock" tactic to prevent such potentially deadly incidents. Educating your children about the risks also plays a vital role, and tools such as door alarms can help, according to the nonprofit Kids and Car Safety.
