Cancer is no longer a disease confined to older adults. Researchers from the Annals of Internal Medicine analyzed data from 42 countries between 2003 and 2017, finding rising diagnoses of obesity-linked cancers such as thyroid, breast, colorectal, kidney, and endometrial cancers. A second study by the US-based Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) projects steep global increases in new cases and deaths by 2050. Together, the findings underscore the urgent need for prevention, awareness, and equitable cancer care worldwide.
