A 33-year-old Texas mother helped her son prepare for a school shooting by buying him a gun, ammunition, and tactical wear in exchange for him babysitting his two younger siblings, according to prosecutors. On May 12, the 13-year-old boy showed up at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School in San Antonio, Texas, wearing tactical clothing, but left suddenly and was later detained.
The child’s grandmother called police, stating that the mother bought him a gun and ammunition, which ultimately led to the mother’s arrest. Prosecutors added that school officials were aware of the child’s fascination with mass shooters and their manifestos. The 13-year-old boy has since been charged with terrorism.
Luckily, this potential mass shooting was prevented, but many times the outcome is different. Indeed, mass shootings have been a persistent issue for many years, and without significant changes in gun control legislation, these tragedies show no signs of stopping.
