Vladimir Lenin died over a century ago, on January 21, 1924. Shortly after his death, the Soviet authorities made a decision to embalm the body of the Russian communist revolutionary. Today, thanks to a remarkable achievement in biochemical engineering, it's possible to view Lenin more or less as he appeared on the day of his passing, lying in repose in a mausoleum on Red Square.
