A ferry bound for Bali sank off Indonesia’s coast on July 2, leaving four dead and 38 missing, according to The New York Times. The ship, carrying 65 people, went under just 35 minutes after leaving East Java.

A distress call was sent around 11:20 pm local time, and the boat sank soon after. Rescuers pulled 23 survivors from the sea, battling six-foot (1.8-m) waves through the night.

Authorities continue searching with more than 10 boats, while families gather at the port in Banyuwangi awaiting news. The cause of the sinking remains unclear.
