A yacht and a 492-ton cargo ship collided on August 13 near Hoto Island, off Japan’s Oita Prefecture. A 70-year-old man was pulled from the water unconscious and later died in hospital. The yacht is believed to have sunk, and several people remain missing as the Japan Coast Guard searches the area.
