President Donald Trump warned on November 17 that 2026 World Cup matches in the US could be moved to different host cities if federal officials believe safety might be at risk.

Speaking during a White House meeting of the FIFA Task Force, Trump raised concerns about cities with rising crime or political disagreements with local leaders. He urged governors and mayors to request federal support to ensure that all venues are fully prepared for next year’s tournament.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino did not rule out the possibility of relocating matches and said safety remains the organization’s top priority. He noted that ticket sales are already strong, with almost two million sold, which suggests fans remain confident in the event.

Nonetheless, doubts persist. Click through the following gallery to see whether the United States is ready to host the world’s biggest sporting tournament.
