Women make up nearly 51% of the US population and outnumber men in most states. However, they represent over two-thirds of all minimum-wage workers, are underrepresented politically, and face higher safety risks across the country.
So, in order to help women decide where they will be healthiest, happiest, and safest, WalletHub compared all 50 states, and the District of Columbia, across 25 key indicators of living standards for women.
These were then grouped into two major categories: women’s economic and social well-being, and women’s health care and safety. Each state was then graded and rated on a 100-point scale.
