The accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Alec Baldwin's film 'Rust' was one of the worst tragedies in Hollywood's history. Reports stated that Baldwin fired a prop gun that malfunctioned, resulting in Hutchins' death and the director's injury. Months later, Baldwin gave his first public statement regarding the incident when he spoke to ABC.

During the emotional conversation, previously undisclosed details came to light. One notable revelation was Baldwin's assertion that he did not intentionally pull the trigger. Instead, he claimed that he simply released the hammer, causing the gun to discharge. According to Baldwin, he was under the impression that the gun was empty and was instructed by Hutchins to aim it at her for a shooting scene. It was during this action that the gun unexpectedly fired. Baldwin admitted that accepting the reality of a live round being present in the gun took him a significant amount of time. He firmly believed that Hutchins could have been struck by a faulty blank instead. Baldwin made it unequivocally clear that the presence of a live round on the set should never have occurred.

The age of sensational celebrity interviews is still going strong, even though many celebrities now communicate directly with their fans through social media. However, interviews still serve a purpose in modern media, allowing for important discussions and tough questions to be addressed.

Elon Musk mixed the traditional interview with social media by hosting his high-profile interview with presidential candidate Donald Trump on X, formerly Twitter. However, the interview was somewhat lacking in the tough questions department, and ended up as more of a rambling but friendly chat. Both men praised each other's work, with Trump congratulating Musk on his tough business practices, specifically his history of responding to worker strikes by firing his staff. "You are the greatest,” Trump said. Trump went on unchallenged as he claimed to have overseen the greatest economy in the world during his presidency, declared that immigrants crossing the US southern border were "murderers" and "unproductive people," and denied that rising sea levels pose any threats. He also attempted to paint Kamala Harris as a radical leftist while mispronouncing her South Asian first name throughout the interview. Strangely, Trump also complimented her looks, stating that she is a "beautiful woman" and looked very much like his own wife, Melania Trump, in a recent Time magazine cover illustration.

After nodding along agreeably for more than two hours, Musk wrapped up the interview by telling Trump that he was “on the right path." In the past, Musk has supported Democratic and Republican politicians with his donations, but he is now reportedly backing Trump exclusively via a new super PAC. With his endless financial resources, control of a major social media platform, and army of devoted followers, Musk can do a great deal to help Trump's campaign.
