Hilary Duff
- Hilary Duff is one of many celebrities who chose to give birth at home. She gave birth to her third baby, Mae, on March 24 of 2021. A few months later she felt ready to share some intimate photos of her home-birth experience and speak about it on Instagram. She chose to have a water birth at home and was surrounded by a select support team that included her husband Matthew Koma, her mom, and her doula. Going through the process for the third time, Duff seemed to have gained insight into what she needed to get through the birth: "For me to feel safe during birth and get to where I need to go, it’s crucial to have the right support system. The perfect amount of space, counter-pressure, humor, stillness and people that support my power."

Historically, babies were born at home. This was normal practice until the beginning of the 20th century, when babies began to be born in hospitals. The popularity of home births has increased in recent years, although they remain a tiny proportion of all births, at around 1%.
If you decide to opt for a home birth, there are certain things that you must take into consideration. You need to have everything planned. It is essential to have a certified midwife, whose education meets very high standards, or an obstetrics doctor who practices within a regulated health system.
Many celebrities advocate for home births and have opened up about their personal experiences. Click through to see which stars gave birth at home.
