Bill Gates disclosed details about past extramarital affairs during closed-door testimony before the House Oversight Committee on June 10, as lawmakers examined his past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein. Gates, who has not been accused of any wrongdoing, said his relationship with Epstein began in 2011 and ended in 2014, when he learned that Epstein had become aware of sensitive information about his personal life.
According to the testimony, Gates identified three women with whom he had affairs during his marriage to Melinda French Gates and said Epstein later appeared to use knowledge of those relationships in an effort to pressure him into resuming contact.
Gates stated that the affairs were unrelated to his dealings with Epstein, but acknowledged the pain they caused his family. He added that while Epstein was unsuccessful in his efforts, he believes the financier may have contemplated using the information as leverage.
Gates identified the women as Mila Antonova, a bridge player; Karima Nigmatulina, a nuclear scientist; and Alice Jacobs Nesselrodt, a doctor.
Disgraced multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his jail cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial for trafficking a minor. But accusations against him dated back decades.
