Thousands of people from around the world turned the streets of Buñol, Spain, bright red on August 27 during the annual “Tomatina” festival, tossing more than 120 tons of overripe tomatoes in what has become the world’s most famous food fight. About 20,000 participants packed into the small town, transforming its central square into a river of red as laughter and shouts echoed through the crowd.
This year’s edition carried a symbolic twist. After devastating floods hit Buñol in October 2024, organizers adopted the slogan “Tomaterapia,” or “Tomato Therapy” in English.
