American journalist Katie Couric has revealed she experienced a frightening episode of transient global amnesia during the Aspen Ideas Festival on June 27. The 69-year-old suddenly became confused and repeatedly asked the same questions, prompting her husband, John Molner, to take her to the hospital.

Doctors ruled out a stroke before diagnosing the temporary neurological condition, which typically resolves within 24 hours without causing lasting brain damage. Couric later described the experience as deeply unsettling.

She also urged others to take sudden neurological symptoms seriously and seek immediate medical attention, emphasizing the importance of getting evaluated quickly to rule out more serious conditions.

Couric's experience has now drawn more attention to transient global amnesia (TGA), a rare condition that causes a sudden, temporary loss of short-term memory. During an episode, a person may know who they are and recognize loved ones, yet be unable to remember where they are or what happened just moments earlier. Although TGA is generally not serious and most people recover fully without complications, it can be frightening for both those experiencing it and those witnessing it.
