Around the world, there are some countries and territories that seem to have more women than men by either a small margin or a massive gap. In many female-dominated places, the pattern isn’t actually caused by more girls being born, but usually because women tend to live longer and men face risks of early death.
In many of these parts of the world, older women end up living alone, and communities are held together by grandmothers. Sadly, this gender imbalance has created a void in the lives of many people.
