According to recent data from the global energy think tank Ember, renewable energy has become the world’s largest source of electricity, surpassing coal for the first time in history.
The analysis further shows a significant increase in the use of solar and wind power, which helped meet even the extra electricity demands worldwide.
Nonetheless, Ember pointed out that developing countries like China and India took the lead on the shift toward renewables, while reliance on fossil fuels for electricity generation increased in the US and EU.
