Over 120,000 home cameras were hacked in South Korea for exploitation of intimate footage and then sold to an illegal site. Four individuals have been accused of hacking IP cameras and gaining access to private images. Authorities said the suspects hacked cameras found in diverse locations, including private residences, karaoke rooms, a Pilates studio, and even a gynecologist’s clinic.

The National Police Agency confirmed on December 1 that efforts are underway to shut down the illegal website and coordinate with foreign agencies to track its operator. Three individuals suspected of purchasing and viewing the material have also been detained. Authorities stressed that regularly updating and strengthening passwords is one of the most effective measures to prevent future breaches.
