The International Criminal Court (ICC) was hit by a cyber attack during the NATO summit held in The Hague, the same city where the ICC is headquartered, on June 24–25. Investigations are still ongoing, but the attack has been described as “sophisticated,” although authorities have not revealed possible causes or whether important information was compromised.
The ICC is currently working on several high-profile cases, including alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine, and it recently issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is not the first time the ICC has been targeted by a cyber attack. A similar event occurred in 2023.
The offensive on the International Criminal Court is just the latest in a series of cyber attacks targeting well-known entities.
