Laws regulating smoking in cars differ across Europe. According to the Smoke Free Partnership (SFP), only three EU-member countries have completely banned smoking in cars, while 13 have no ban at all.
In total, just four out of 39 European countries have full bans in place. Many others have introduced partial bans in recent years, primarily aimed at protecting children under 18. These regulations reflect growing awareness of the health risks associated with secondhand smoke in confined spaces such as private vehicles.
