Mount Etna has erupted again in Sicily, sending ash over parts of the island and disrupting air travel in southern Italy. The renewed activity on July 5 came from the Voragine summit crater, with volcanic ash drifting toward nearby areas.
Authorities raised the aviation alert level and introduced flight restrictions at Catania airport, one of Sicily’s main travel hubs. Visibility was reduced in some areas, while monitoring teams continued to track the volcano’s activity and possible ash fallout.
