Denmark’s foreign minister summoned the US envoy following the release of reports on August 27, which alleged that at least three people connected to President Donald Trump have been carrying out interference operations in Greenland.
The US State Department later released a statement confirming that a meeting took place between the US Deputy Chief of Mission in Copenhagen, Mark Stroh, and officials from Denmark’s Foreign Ministry.
However, the department declined to comment on the individuals’ activities, stating that the US government does not control the actions of its "private citizens."
Indeed, since President Trump has been re-elected as the US president, he has been vocal about his intention to annex Greenland. But what exactly makes this remote Arctic territory so appealing?
Greenland is the largest non-continental island on earth, but the least-densely populated territory in the world, which makes this vast and remote destination one of the most exciting and captivating locations to explore on the planet.
Blessed with stunning scenery—a wild and untamed environment created from forces of rivers, glacial ice, and volcanic and geothermal activity—this is a place born from the raw power of nature.
