The Roman Empire left behind some of the most impressive monuments the world has ever seen. Even though the empire collapsed more than 1,500 years ago, its roads, walls, theaters, and temples still stand across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
These structures show how skilled Roman engineers, architects, and builders truly were. Many of them shaped the cities around them, influenced later cultures, and survived wars, earthquakes, and centuries of weather.
In this gallery, we explore the Roman Empire’s greatest surviving relics. Curious which ones made the list? Click to find out.
